Shannon Hart
Based in Houston, Texas, Shannon has been in Human Performance Consulting for almost 20 years. She entered coaching through her work as a Learning Specialist...........
How did you first get into coaching?
I became a coach as a natural extension of my work in adult learning and group performance improvement. Often after a high-impact group learning event, participants would approach me and ask for additional one-on-one feedback support to create real and lasting changes.
How would you describe your coaching approach?
My approach is about leveraging strengths. We work together to clearly identify those unique strengths and unlock the individual's powerful potential, thus making any weakness irrelevant. We are most successful when we allow what we want most to pull us forward - when we are having fun and are engaged.
What are your areas of specialism?
My professional life has been about adult learning and behavioural change. Change management, teambuilding, presentation and communications skills have all been central to that work. And, while I have worked in many industries, my expertise has been applied most frequently in the energy sector and in healthcare.
What do you enjoy about coaching?
I love connecting with people over the adventure of uncovering their strengths. Helping people connect with what gives them energy is incredible, and facilitating that process is a real privilege. The energy generated by someone becoming inspired, and re-inspired, is addictive. I really love this work.
What kinds of people in what roles have you coached before?
I have coached executives, teams, and key individual contributors, primarily in the energy sector, non-profit, healthcare and technology. These clients have included the senior leadership team of a global business, project managers on high risk projects, first-line supervisors, HR advisors, engineers, a non-profit board of directors, and computer programmers.
'I did not actually think coaching was going to help me when I began with Shannon. I was very unhappy in my work, and felt like I was at a dead end professionally. I really did not think anything would help. On a a recommendation, I called Shannon. Every session has been relaxed and easy. I am telling her my inner motivations, and what I really want to be doing, before I even know consciously they are there. I don't know how she does it, but she got me in touch with the person I was when I entered the workforce originally. I have my energy back around my work. With her help, I now remember why I got into this work in the first place. I love what I do and have the strength of my conviction again.'
