How did you first get into coaching?

Experiencing coaching myself as a Principal in Ernst & Young made me realise the power it gives people to make change. It also made me aware that I was making most impact as a consultant through informal coaching of leaders.

How would you describe your coaching approach?

Clients describe me as an excellent confidential sounding board who is supportive yet challenges with warmth and humour. I bring to the coaching a wide range of models of human dynamics and patterns of behaviour that help clients see different perspectives and options.

What are your areas of specialism?

A key specialism I bring is creating effective strategic dialogue in leaders and teams. The combination of my experience in strategic thinking and ability to coach teams results in great ownership and alignment with the chosen strategy.
I also specialise in helping people stepping from management to leadership roles - the subject of my recent book.

What do you enjoy about coaching?

I enjoy seeing people achieving their goals in ways they had not thought possible before. We construct an effective partnership to approach issues with greater clarity of thought, vision and action. At the end of coaching programmes clients tell me how much better they are at creating more effective self-dialogue, sustaining their success.

What kinds of people in what roles have you coached before?

I coach people who are leaders today, those who will be tomorrow and those with high potential for the future. They are in a wide range of functions across sectors including Financial Services, Energy, Engineering, Professional Services, IT Services and Pharmaceuticals.

I had two key objectives for the strategy development project, both of which were delivered. We now have a clear (almost simple) strategy that we are focused on delivering. Without exception all members of the team express a view that the process has worked really well in building a strong sense of team and high level of cooperation across all areas of the business. I know that you were critical to the success of this project. Your structured approach, insight, calm presence and good humour ensured we delivered this complex task to a challenging deadline.
