How did you first get into coaching?


As a senior leader in business for many years I have experienced personally the value of coaching and over the years have sought to commit much of my effort as a leader to supporting my own team in this way. This passion led me to leave corporate life and become a leadership coaching consultant.

How would you describe your coaching approach?


I believe in the importance of leaders knowing themselves well before they decide what to do as a leader. I work with them to generate new perspectives on themselves and their work with an expectation of them being able to bring new insight and capability to their performance,  developing results which they value

What are your areas of specialism?


I purposefully work with senior line managers across all sectors helping them see the huge impact they can have as a leader, manager and coach in their role. I build a supportive and challenging relationship with clients and explicitly seek also to build their coaching capability during the work we do to enhance their leadership impact.

What do you enjoy about coaching?


So often people believe attending a course is the answer to a development need. The magic of coaching is in building a trusting relationship, working purely on the client's agenda and seeing them find new perspectives and new confidence in their work - that's development!

What kinds of people in what roles have you coached before?


Recent assignments have included coaching a high potential employee, a global engineering organisation to prepare for more senior roles, coaching an HR Director through a change management challenge and coaching a national leader in education to clarify and focus on strengths.
