How did you first get into coaching?

After training as a Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming, and once self-employed, I became curious to find other ways to help people create more of the success they wanted and deserved. I was originally inspired by the GROW model, in the1990's, which became my springboard for further learning.

How would you describe your coaching approach?

Flexible and client-centred, I see my role as a Facilitator and a catalyst. I hold the client as the expert and create a space for them to think independently and response-ably. To help clients generate results that stick, I take a cognitive approach and blend it with practical strategies, as required.

What are your areas of specialism?

Helping clients make radical shifts in the way that they think (about themselves/others, their work, their life etc.) so they can create a more enabling mindset where success becomes inevitable and stress/regret/guilt is minimised. I use psychometric tools like 360 assessments and the MBTI®, as required to meet client outcome.

What do you enjoy about coaching?

It's a privilege to work with a client, holding the space for them so they can think creatively, and with ease, exploring their challenges and discovering possible solutions. It's exciting and energising when a client re-connects with their strengths and resources, shifting from a ‘can't do' to a ‘can-do-will-do' mindset.

What kinds of people in what roles have you coached before?

I have worked with people with varying levels of responsibility, in the private, public and non-profit sectors. People in HR, Retail Sales Management, Training & Development, Engineering & Chemical industry, Medicine, Business Development & Career Development.

'Hazel has taken a pivotal role in supporting some of our doctors†-often, when they access the deanery for support, they are in 'career crisis'. Some just don't know which way to turn and some even think about leaving the profession altogether.
We have received many personal accounts from doctors who have worked with Hazel in this way - some of whom have said that without this kind of support, they would have left their jobs - a huge saving to the NHS! 100% of these doctors have valued her commitment and her skills in helping them to move forward in their lives. While the 'real' work needs to come from the doctor, Hazel has helped to work on the issues affecting their personal and professional lives in a highly confidential and supportive environment.'
