How did you first get into coaching?
Having spent over 20 years in business, I became a coach in 2004 after re-evaluating my life's priorities and deciding it was time to change. Throughout my corporate life I had always been fascinated by what makes people tick and passionate about encouraging people to be the best they can be - so coaching was a natural choice for me.
How would you describe your coaching approach?
I create a safe, supportive space for the coachee to clarify their goals, explore their thinking and design and implement an action plan. I use NLP, cognitive behavioural techniques and creative thinking tools to help the coachee master their thoughts and think constructively in order to move forward. And warmth, humour and fun all play a part too.
What are your areas of specialism?
Confidence is at the root of success, whether it is the confidence to manage people, the business or ourselves. This confidence comes from having the tools and the mindset - so I specialise in creating confident, creative and influential leaders with the communication, inter-personal and people management skills they need to get the best performance from their people, the business and themselves.
What do you enjoy about coaching?
From personal experience, I know how powerful the coaching process is in clarifying thinking, understanding purpose and then making change happen. I know everyone has the internal resources they need to achieve their goals, so I go with people on their journey of self discovery and change and get immense satisfaction from seeing people realise their goals.
What kinds of people in what roles have you coached before?
I work with people managers from main board level through to first line managers. I also work with HR professionals, operations, sales and marketing and client facing account managers. I have also worked on graduate programmes.
"Catherine and I have worked together on the practical application of leadership in a way which is open and trusting, non judgemental and entirely supportive. Through this I have achieved high levels of self knowledge, a full understanding of what I am seeking to achieve and have developed communication and behavioural strategies to get me there. On a personal level, Catherine has a great light heartedness of spirit and a tremendous sense of fun and so makes the coaching a really enjoyable experience."
